colours of my job - part 2
This character is very interesting, and unique.
Thin and tall, typical Chinese guy look, in fact I think he looks more like ah pek, good language skills, good technical knowledge, quiet or geeky type, someone you would hire cos of the old-fashioned package he represented himself which in turns makes u think he could be reliable. That's first impression.
Once he settled into the environment, all the characters started to show. He even developed some new characters along the way. Some of the highlights:
Attitude
- Does his job in his own ways not following procedure.
- Put both of his bare feet up on the table.
- Wipe clean whatever food left on the table or in the fridge in regardless of whose the owner, except for food he doesn't like.
- Forever acting dumb, believe ignorance is bliss.
Attire
- Wearing shorts and slippers to work (he has always been working night shift).
- Wear old shirts to work, shirts people normally wear to sleep because of the colour had faded or there's tiny holes on the cloth but it's still comfy, some of them look like rags.
- Take off his pants/underwear and change into sarong in the middle of the night, and changed back into pants before people start work the next day. I heard claims that he put his underwear on either my or my boss's table. (Gross!!!)
Performance
- Advises customer to continue using the 2 years old version of the software as it's more stable (in company perspective we want customers to always upgrade the latest version of the software every year).
- Advises customer to buy the product using the old link because it's cheaper.
- Refer customer to use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer because there are more security vulnerabilities in Microsoft products (our product fully support Internet Explorer but not Firefox).
- When customer asked for his name, he simply give any name.
- When customer asked where is he based and the location of the call center, he said Singapore or Mongolia.
There, enough said. Of course I have talked, guided, reminded, counselled, scolded, closed one eye on him, whatever word you want to use, too many times. I have lost count and I wanted to give up. But I cannot let him continue screwing up the team's performance. Headache continues as long as he's here and not willing to change.
