why do words hurts

Why are we affected by other people's words? Why do the word hurts even if the words are being typed out and sent via SMS or email or any written form? We know the allegation is not true. We know that the person is just trying to vent his frustration over what has happened. We know the person is just being pissed. We know the person is just trying to be difficult. Despite all these, why does it still affects us? Why does it still hurts?

If it's from a loved one, that's because we care. If it's from friends, it's because we are concerned. If it's from any others, it's because we're just human. That's why they say the tongue can kill. Words can be like honey or poison. Blame the brain that controls the tongue.
