good news and bad news

The GOOD news is the project is relocating to the client's premises next year, so we will be working side-by-side with the client. Product support, escalations, point of information and knowledge will be so much easier. We will also get much more insight into what and how an antivirus company works. The icing on the cake is that the "revolution" has been overturned. Oh yeah I have been moaning and complaining for the past 7 months. I have lost the fighting spirit and enthusiasm to work, everyday Facebook-ing in office only, I just do my part and no more than that. Now the dictatorship is going to end, I can see the lights ahead. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for a new lead who cares and bothers to take care of us and not just saving his own ass. I foresee the relocation is good for the team's spirit and a good makeover. Working beside the client will give them a better perspective at what we are doing and they can reach out and help us when things go wrong. I am excited and anticipating the relocating.

The BAD news is my Hong Kong trip is cancelled. Was really anticipating spending Christmas and New Year in Hong Kong next month with two of my long-lost secondary classmates. They moaned it's expensive. I was like duh of course it is expensive, it's the holiday season and Christmas is a major festive around the world. The initial plan is to spend Christmas and New Year in Hong Kong because it is happening with fireworks and celebrations, and the weather is cold giving such a Christmasy feel. SW used to be a hotelier and she has connections so she's the organiser for the trip. We planned this in late August but I only heard from her beginning of the month despite I kept pushing her for updates. Low-cost flight from Singapore to Macau and back + 3 star budget hotel for 4 nights = S$740 (RM1,700), which I think is a good deal for Christmas period, plus you get to visit Macau as well. Hong Kong is an expensive country to visit by itself, what more the Christmas and holiday season. Too bad my two friends especially SL did not see what I see so they postponed the trip and is looking at alternatives. And they decided on the alternatives then only told me about it! I am disappointed alright. Boyfriend already warned me of the possibility of a no-trip but I kept telling him I trust SW to plan since she got connections and all. Well despite the no-trip-possibility mental preparation I can't help but feel disappointed. Dad says it make sense for SW and SL to feel the expensive-ness because they have never been out of the region whereas I have travelled Europe and see things a little different from them. I can only blamed myself for getting too excited on the trip and failed to see the signs.

Bye-bye Hong Kong for Christmas... see you in my dreams.
